TWO men were arrested after stealing a woman’s handbag in Ottery at the weekend.

On Sunday at approxiamately 13:45, the woman was walking in Edward Road, Ottery, when she was approached by two men and a woman.

According to Warrant Officer Wynite Kleinsmith, spokesperson for the Grassy Park Police Station, the suspects stole the bag, which contained money, a cellphone, cards and ID book.

Kleinsmith confirmed that two suspect, aged 20 and 23, were arrested by Grassy Park SAPS soon after robbery.

The suspects are due to appear in court today.

. On Sunday, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of tik and was linked to a robbery on Sunday 5 February, when a 14-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone in Plantation Road, Oterry.

The suspect is due to appear in court today.

. Three suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery case reported in January last year.

According to Kleinsmith, on 11 January at approximately 23:30, a man was reversing his black Tata, valued at R135 000, out of his garage when he was approached by a suspect with a gun, who demanded that he hand over his wallet.

“Two other suspects got in the vehicle and the three drove off in the complainant’s vehicle,” Kleinsmith explained.

The suspects then committed a robbery in Diep River, where they robbed a couple coming out of the Chillie Bar.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday 12 February in Mitchell’s Plain, and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm as well as the Grassy Park armed robbery.
