A MAN was shot and injured in a hail of bullets in Heideveld.

The incident happened on Monday 13 February at 22:00 as the man was walking from Mariana Court to Katrina Court.

“According to witnesses, a man walked up to him and fired several shots, hitting him twice in the chest,” says Lieutenant Ian Bennett, Manenberg police spokesperson.

“It is not known why the shots were fired at the man, wounding him in the upper chest. The suspect fled on foot and his identity is not known at this stage.”

The victim is not affiliated to any gang in the area.

He was taken to Groote Schuur Hospital, where he is in a serious but stable condition. A case of attempted murder is being investigated.

In another incident, a 24-year-old man was stabbed and shot at during an argument with two men in front of his Irvine Street home. “The incident happened on Thursday at 03:00,” says Bennett.

“The two men stabbed him twice in his neck and once in the chest. It is also believed that one of the men fired a shot at the man, but missed him.”

The perpetrators have not been identified. The incident is believed to be gang related, between the Hard Livings and Americans.
