A MANENBERG man was arrested for the brutal murder of his girlfriend on Sunday.
It is alleged that the 51-year-man had an argument with his 32-year-old girlfriend in Pecos Road, and stabbed her in the thigh.
When a neighbour went to investigate, they found the woman bleeding on the floor.
“Police officers and the ambulance were alerted,” says Lieutenant Ian Bennett, Manenberg police spokesperson.
“When the ambulance arrived they found that the woman had already died due to her injuries. She was stabbed in the leg and the knife cut her main artery and she bled to death.”
The man was arrested and appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
“Communities are asked to support their neighbours when they see that an argument turns violent,” says Bennett.
“There are always ways of dealing with issues. It is our responsibility to take a stand and make a difference but these types of incidents become non policeable.”
