A KEWTOWN man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in a hail of bullets.

The incident, which is believed to be gang related, happened on Friday outside flats in Anémone Close.

“The 30-year-old man was shot in the neck at about 23:00,” says Constable Zita Norman, Athlone police spokesperson.

“The victim was outside in the yard when the shots were fired. According to witnesses, the shooting was a result of an argument which erupted between the victim and the suspect.”

She says the suspect is a member of the Playboyz gang.
