Groote Schuur High School is situated in the leafy surrounds of Newlands, Cape Town, and adjacent to the Newlands Rugby and Cricket stadiums. It was founded in 1959 as an Afrikaans medium school.  In 1994 dual medium instruction was introduced. From 2011 the only medium of tuition is English.
