IN MEMORY of her beloved grandmother, a former model is planning an extravaganza for young beauty queens.
It is to celebrate who they are, as well as to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Candice van Eden will host Miss Fabulous at the Wespoort Primary school hall, in Portlands, on Saturday 3 March, and invites all locals to participate or attend.
Van Eden explains that the competition is in aid of breast cancer, an illness which caused the death of her grandmother, Laurain Pietersen, more than a year ago.
She describes her grandmother as her greatest supporter, and says that the event will be a tribute to her and how “fabulous she was”.
Breast cancer is a cause close to van Eden’s heart and she hopes to raise the awareness around it.
There will be special performances by singer Marysa Pietersen and dancers Tatum Schouw and Amber Brown. Tatum Johnson is performing a belly dance and Anthea Crotz will also sing.
The entrance fee is R20 per contestant and is open for age groups six to nine, 10 to 13, and 14 years and older.
Participants must be there 30 minutes before the show.
Adults pay R15 and children R10.
