A FAMILY’s peaceful home has been disrupted after their six-year-old daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by three boys at her Manenberg school on Wednesday.

“The boys, aged between 7 and 10, pinned the girl down while two held her hands and feet. One then penetrated her with his finger,” says Lieutenant Ian Bennett, Manenberg police spokesperson.

“The boys ran off after the incident. A case of rape is being investigated.”

The girl’s mother tells People’s Post that her daughter and the family is coping even though they are still in shock.

“When I heard what happened I felt sick. My daughter told me how she was waiting for her transport when these boys approached her and assaulted her.

“I was so shocked and couldn’t believe that this had happened to my only daughter. She is so young and so are they.”

The mother says after the case was reported to police, she took her daughter to the doctor and tests proved that she had been penetrated. “When I went to the school that day and saw how young these boys are I couldn’t believe that they would do this. What possessed them to hurt my daughter? I want these boys to be punished and for the law to take its course. If they are not punished now, they will only do more crime. The school has set up counselling for my daughter.”

The principal of the Manenberg school says she is stunned that it took place on the school grounds.

“The girl’s educator noticed that she wasn’t herself and called her aside after class. The little girl then said what happened to her and the educator alerted me and we called the parents to the school immediately.”

She says this is the first time an incident like this has happened on the school. “It’s unbelievable what happened, that children of this age could do such a thing. All the pupils involved are receiving counselling.”

Three other rape charges have been laid at the station this week.

. Two three-year-old girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a 61-year-old man. The man was arrested after he allegedly kissed the girls inappropriately. Tests are being done to establish whether the girls were raped.

. A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her boyfriend’s friend. He has been arrested and charged.

. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her friend’s brother. This resulted in her falling pregnant. The case is being investigated.

Bennett urges parents to be more involved in their children’s lives.

“Parents should be aware of what they are doing, especially in front of their children. Parents need to be role models for their children. They also need to encourage their kids to get involved in recreational activities so that they do not get involved with wrong things.”
