Home / Man killed in front of pupils

PUPILS who witnessed a brutal shooting infront the St George’s Grammer School on Valentine’s Day are receiving counselling.

Chaos erupted at the Mowbray school when an alleged high-flyer was gunned down.

Rashied Moses (37) was with his girlfriend as she collected her children from the school on Tuesday when a man approached him and fired two shots hitting Moses in the head and chest.

Moses’ lifeless body was left in his black VW Golf and the perpetrator took off.

The man who fired the shots is believed to be the ex-husband of Moses’ girlfriend.

Police found the weapon a few metres away from the murder scene and the suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.

“Moses was released from prison early last year after he served time for a murder charge,” says Lieutenant Ian Bennett, Manenberg police spokesperson.

The deceased man, who allegedly has links to the Hard Livings gang, was buried on Wednesday according to Muslim rights.

People’s Post tried to gain comment from the family but was unable to do so by the time of going to print.

Julian Cameron, headmaster at St George’s Grammar School, says: “We extend our condolences to the learners and families directly involved in the incident. We have held multiple meetings with smaller groups of learners and have talked about their possible responses, concerns and feelings.

“We have also made a counselling service available to all those who wish to use it.”

He says in addition, they have also provided more specialised counselling for those children who are feeling anxious. “We will also be monitoring learners to assess whether ongoing effects remain. These learners will be referred to specialised services, if necessary.”

The suspect appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the case was postponed for bail application
